Mental Health Matters

Mental health. It's as important as physical health, but not talked about as often. Why is it ok to talk about breaking your arm or getting a sprained ankle, but it seems taboo to talk about feeling anxious or depressed? The goal of this website is to make it easier to talk about mental health.

The need to have good mental health is the same as the need to have good physical health - it is easier to handle life's challenges when your body is as healthy as possible. Our physical health may not have as great an impact on others as our mental health does - entire workplaces can be impacted by a lack of mental health supports. This is why we need to deal with mental health in an open forum. It matters.

New Videos from the World Health Organization

We recently launched a new video on depression which focuses on partners, carers and sufferers of depression. It advises those living with and caring for people with depression on what to do, what not to do, and where to go for help.

“Living with a Black dog” is a follow-up to “I had a black dog, his name was depression”, which offers practical advice for coming to terms with and overcoming depression. The latter was launched in 2012 and has reached more the 4 million hits in YouTube.
